Track: Carroll is a blur in 100-meter dash

It wasn’t his fastest time of the year, but race favorite Randall Carroll of L.A. Cathedral won as expected in the boys’ 100 meters, finishing in 10.50 seconds. His fastest time is 10.30.
Fountain Valley’s Kyle Middlebrooks was second in 10.68 and Bishop Amat’s Sheldon Price--Carroll’s future football teammate at UCLA--finished third in 10.73.
In the girls’ 100, Rio Mesa sophomore Valexsia Droughn won in 11.61 seconds, followed by Rancho Verde’s Asiah Gooden in 11.77 and Paraclete’s Melanise Chapman in 11.79.
