When Ryan Wolfe came out of Newhall Hart, he had one scholarship offer -- to Nevada Las Vegas. Well, last weekend, he became the all-time receiving leader in the Mountain West Conference after catching 11 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown in a victory over New Mexico.

Wolfe has made 270 catches in his career. He also has already graduated from UNLV and is working on his master’s. He might even get picked in the NFL draft.

Gary Bernardi, a UNLV assistant who used to live in the Santa Clarita Valley, took a chance on Wolfe and has been rewarded.

But most important, Wolfe took advantage of his opportunity and made the most of it. He’s a great role model for others to follow.
