USC-bound running back Trajuan Briggs of Birmingham said Wednesday his prep career is over. He won’t play the rest of the season while trying to recover from a broken fibula that has limited him to two appearances this season.

Briggs injured himself during a practice before the season. He tried to play the last two weeks but didn’t play very long. After consulting with a doctor last weekend, he said it was decided to focus on therapy so he can get healthy when he enrolls at USC in January.

He said he needs to take care of scar tissue issues in his right foot. His absence will certainly not help a Birmingham team that is 0-7.
