Mater Dei finished the third quarter with a flourish, cutting what had been a 20-point deficit to a more manageable 51-41 margin heading into the fourth quarter against Westchester in the Southern California Division I regional championship at the Galen Center.
Gary Franklin Jr. finally got a few shots to fall in the quarter after going one for 10 in the first half and Tyler Lamb already has 21 points for Mater Dei.
Dwayne Polee Jr. started to really assert himself with eight points in the third quarter. All the Comets have to do now is not totally collapse.
