The Southern Section has denied a protest by San Clemente over an allegation that Simi Valley Royal used an illegal bat in Friday’s playoff victory, citing ‘Insufficient evidence’ to support such a protest.

Royal, on good faith, turned over the questioned bat on Saturday to Easton, which made the bat. Royal Coach Dan Maye said if the bat is returned in time, he expects the player who uses the bat, Ryan Tinkham, to use it in Tuesday’s playoff game against Santa Ana Mater Dei.
