Just because there’s no tackling taking place doesn’t mean seven-on-seven passing competitions are no risk for injuries.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame found that out last Friday in its first passing competition of the summer. Its best receiver, Teddy Engs, will be sidelined for much of the summer after separating his shoulder against Ventura St. Bonaventure.
He went to make a diving catch, hit his shoulder or someone fell on top of it, Coach Kevin Rooney said.
And there’s only two months to go in the real seven-on-seven competitions.
For players, be wary when people start asking you to compete in all-star seven-on-seven action.
It’s the fall when pads come on that really counts.
