Los Angeles Garfield supporters were saying on Thursday that they thought Huntington Beach Edison was better than their opening-game opponent, La Puente Bishop Amat. Edison defeated the Bulldogs, 27-7, and showed more speed than Bishop Amat.
Garfield was down, 27-0, at halftime but played much better in the second half. Three times in the third quarter, Edison was forced to punt.
Edison, though, broke the game open in the first quarter, highlighted by a 19-yard interception return for a touchdown by Zach Salazar.
Garfield (0-2), after playing two strong Southern Section Pac-5 teams, will return to City Section competition with a game against Dorsey.
