Big defensive plays by cornerback Juan Nevarez allowed South East to hold on for a 31-28 victory over Garfield, the Jaguars’ first victory over their Eastern League rivals in seven attempts.
Nevarez broke up a third-down pass and then on Garfield’s last attempt, he made the tackle on a hook-and-lateral play.
