Two days before Carson played Narbonne in football last Friday, the uncle of Carson defensive lineman Daniel Cortez died of cancer. Oscar Villa used to wear No. 58 when he played for San Pedro. He died at the age of 44.

Cortez asked to wear No. 58 instead of his usual No. 55 for the Narbonne game to honor his uncle. He had an interception return for a touchdown. And he made his uncle proud.
