Newhall Hart Coach Mike Herrington said it’s tough surprising teams in the Foothill League.

“Everyone knows everyone inside out,” he said. “It’s tough to come up with new ideas. I had to make up two or three plays to run against Valencia that we’ve never run before.”

Hart pulled out a 19-14 win over Valencia. And did those new plays come from his younger brother, Dean, who coaches at Alemany?

“I don’t borrow anything from Dean. I’m the innovator,” Herrington said.

He paused, then admitted, “They’re all his plays.”

Good to see the Herrington brothers are still talking.
