Signing parties across Southern California

Wednesday was the first day for high school seniors to sign letters of intent for sports other than football, soccer, boys’ water polo and track and field, and lots of schools had signing parties.

At Orange Lutheran, 15 athletes signed letters of intent, including basketball standout Gabe York with Arizona. Six softball and five girls’ volleyball players highlighted the ceremony. Here’s video of Orange Lutheran ceremony.

At Santa Ana Mater Dei, 13 athletes signed. Girls’ basketball players signing included Jordan Adams (USC), Nirra Fields (UCLA) and Alexas Williamson (Washington State), along with baseball players Ty Moore (UCLA) and Ryan Barr (Portland).

Studio City Harvard-Westlake was expected to have at least 10 athletes sign. Zena Edosomwan, the Wolverines’ standout basketball player, is likely to delay signing because he’s still interested in Harvard and needs to work on some academic requirements.

Cami Chapus, the Wolverines’ standout distance runner, is headed to Stanford. Another Harvard-Westlake track standout, Amy Weissenbach, is also going to Stanford.

Santa Margarita had 11 athletes sign, including Adrienne Anderson, who signed with Stanford and became the first female athlete in school history to sign for lacrosse.

Baseball standouts Ron Miller of Gardena Serra and Keymon Thomas of Crenshaw will have a signing ceremony at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton. Miller is signing with UNLV and Thomas with UC Riverside.

Riverside Poly had five athletes sign, including baseball standout RJ Ybarra (Arizona State).
