Thirteen playoff brackets were released on Sunday by the Southern Section, and there’s no doubt what game stood out among all others: Bellflower St. John Bosco at Mission Hills Alemany in a Pac-5 Division opener.
Alemany won the Serra League championship. St. John Bosco finished third in the Trinity League. Both are in the same bracket as No. 1-seeded Anaheim Servite and are loaded with speed and big-play ability. Each could win it all.
One of St. John Bosco’s two losses came to Serra League No. 2 team Loyola. Someone had to play the No. 3 team in the Trinity. It won’t be easy for the Warriors. Last year’s No. 3 team in the Trinity, Santa Ana Mater Dei, reached the semifinals. St. John Bosco is capable of doing the same.
It will be a great game for fans of high school football.
