Russell Lakey was a standout point guard at Studio City Harvard-Westlake, went on to start at Vanderbilt, went to law school, became a lawyer, then decided to become an entrepreneur with former Harvard-Westlake teammate John Karavas, who also was a lawyer.

Together, they’ve created Babafoo.com, a social network/sports recruiting website.

Since it launched in mid-October, they have more than 600 registered users, many of whom are prep athletes.

“Babafoo is essentially LinkedIn for high school sports,” Lakey said.

They want to create one location for high school athletes, parents and college recruiters to search for updates and progress.

And if Lakey ever needs a day off, he’s happy to take on any and all comers in basketball.
