Dedicated. Enthusiastic. Always positive. For more than 28 years, Mike Gaber was a fixture in the Newhall Hart High School baseball program. He was the team’s scorekeeper -- and a baseball enthusiast.
On Saturday, Gaber died of cancer. He was 78.
Every game, home or away, Gaber would find a way to show up. And he’d use his own money to pay for paper to distribute statistics to Hart fans and visiting parents.
‘He was a super sweet guy that had nothing but positive influences on our kids and program,’ Hart Coach Jim Ozella said. ‘He’s been dedicated to athletics.’
Earlier this year, the Santa Clarita Signal wrote an article about Gaber.
Gaber is survived by his wife and sister. Funeral arrangements are pending.
