Boys’ basketball: Loyola holds off Harvard-Westlake, 77-74

Another big crowd and another close Mission League game between Loyola and Harvard-Westlake. The Cubs prevailed, 77-74, at Cal State Northridge.

Julian Harrell scored 23 points and Jacob Hazzard 16 for Loyola, which held a 73-60 lead with 3:35 left. Harvard-Westlake received 24 points apiece from Derick Newton and Zena Edosomwan. Josh Hearlihy hadded 16 points.

Zach Miller scored 20 points, Jaron Martin had 16 points and Jack Williams came down with 15 rebounds in Chaminade’s 66-57 Mission League victory over Encino Crespi.

Chaminade is 15-9 and 4-6. Crespi dropped to 19-6 and 6-5. London Perrantes had 17 points for the slumping Celts, who started league play 5-0.

St. Francis defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 70-60. Emerson Castaneda had 24 points for St. Francis. Kennedy Edwards led Notre Dame with 27 points.
