Baseball: Beckman wins Pacific Coast League title

Irvine Beckman clinched the Pacific Coast League title with a 9-2 victory over Irvine coupled with a loss by Irvine University. Spencer Lundin hit a three-run home run. Grant Barring was three for four.
Woodbridge’s Cameron MacKenzie threw a no-hitter in his team’s 3-1 win over Northwood despite walking eight.
Ty Moore struck out 10 in Mater Dei’s 5-0 Trinity League victory over Servite. He also had two hits. Orange Lutheran defeated JSerra, 1-0. Art Vidrio struck out five and walked none for Lutheran. Trevor Charpie threw a complete game for JSerra. Lutheran scored the only run in the seventh on an RBI single by Dalton Frize.
In the South Coast League, El Toro moved one game ahead of Tesoro in the battle for first place with a 9-0 victory over the Titans. Stephen Villines thew a five-hitter. Mitchell Tolman hit a grand slam.
Chatsworth Sierra Canyon improved to 20-4 with a 3-1 win over Buckley. Josh Bobrosky had three hits.
Bonita (25-2) defeated Diamond Bar, 15-2. Justin Garza (9-1) got the victory and contributed two hits. Conor Renard, Anthony Gonzalez and Tanner Diebold had three hits apiece.
In the Tri-Valley League, Carpinteria defeated Malibu, 7-5. Marcus Hutchinson had two hits and Derrick Moore had two RBIs.
In the Pacific League, Burbank defeated Hoover, 8-0. Adrian Chavez threw five shutout innings.
Palm Desert clinched the Desert Valley League title with a 5-0 win over La Quinta. Brian Serven struck out seven and allowed four hits. He also had three hits, including a home run.
