Track: Cami Chapus leads Harvard-Westlake at Division 3 prelims

Studio City Harvard-Westlake will be bidding for a Southern Section Division 3 girls’ track and field championship next Saturday at Mount San Antonio College, and leading the way should be Stanford-bound Cami Chapus.

At Saturday’s Division 3 prelims at Estancia, Chapus had the fastest times in the 1,600 (4:56.57) and the 3,200 (10:49.95). Teammate Amy Weissenbach ran the fastest 800 time in 2:12.24.

Oak Park’s Syndney Lewis was No. 1 in the 100 (11.77) and 200 (24.25). Freshman Nia Britt of Alemany led the shot putters at 46-7 1/4.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Oxnard Rio Mesa look like the teams to beat in the boys’ competition. Rio Mesa’s Blake Selig qualified first in the 100 (10.59) and long jump (22-3). Notre Dame’s Khalfani Muhammad was first in the 200 (21.37) and third in the 100 (10.70).

Beverly Hills’ Alex Rohani led the 400 qualifiers at 48.03. Danny Martinez, the state cross country champion from St. John Bosco, was No. 1 in the 1,600 in 4:13.19 and No. 1 in the 3,200 in 9:13.46.

Toure McCully from Bonita was No. 1 in the 110 hurdles in 14:23.
