Of all the transfers in the past year, the one who could end up having the most impact is sophomore quarterback Ricky Town.
He showed up at Ventura St. Bonaventure after being the quarterback for the Chaminade junior varsity team and what a varsity start he has had.
He was 10 of 11 against Garfield in a 48-0 win. And on Friday night, he was 16 of 23 for 340 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-35 win over Corona Centennial.
‘This was a big win for us against a great team,’ Town said. ‘They never gave up but when they did come back, for me that made it more fun. Today was about keeping the ball away from them. We know with the no huddle, they can score real quick, so we wanted to run it and use the short passing game.’
St. Bonaventure Coach Todd Therrien fears no one, so next up for the Seraphs is one of the best defenses in Southern California, Redlands East Valley on Friday night. And a couple weeks away is another road game against No. 1-ranked Santa Margarita.
But in Ricky Town, St. Bonaventure has found its quarterback to guide the offense for the next three years.
‘Our offense is looking prolific,’ Therrien said.
