City Section teams that started the season 2-0 are about to find out just how good they might be.
Canoga Park (2-0), Granada Hills (2-0) and South Gate (2-0) will be underdogs in their games on Friday.
Canoga Park plays at Fairfax, Granada Hills hosts Harvard-Westlake and South Gate hosts Locke.
Granada Hills has posted shutouts against Sun Valley and Reseda, led by inside linebackers David Salazar and Angel Valdez and cornerbacks Cameron Windon and Chrishawn Jackson. But Harvard-Westlake’s offense is averaging 498 yards in two games. Quarterback Chad Kanoff has passed for 707 yards and seven touchdowns.
Also, Dorsey (1-0) is taking on Garfield (0-2), which has lost to Southern Section powerhouses St. Bonaventure and Edison. This is the week City Section teams try to gain bragging rights over the Southern Section. Among the big games: Long Beach Poly at Narbonne, Crenshaw at Westlake, Venice at Oaks Christian, Carson vs. Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, Lynwood at South East, Notre Dame at Taft.
