Long Beach Poly’s offensive and defensive lines have come on strong during postseason action, and they’re going to need another top performance in the CIF Division I regional championship bowl game on Friday at Veterans Stadium against Clovis North.
Clovis North, only in its fourth year of varsity football, has won back-to-back Central Section championships. Among the team’s players are a pair of imposing tight ends: David Wells at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds along with Josh Lovingood at 6-6 and 250 pounds. Wells is committed to San Diego State.
Poly has been running the ball successfully and its line has keyed a defense that shut down top offenses from Mission Viejo, St. John Bosco and Mater Dei.
The Jackrabbits love to get physical, so if Clovis North wants to do that, they’ll find a willing participant.
