Former Long Beach Wilson standout Aaron Hicks, 23, won the starting job in center field for the Minnesota Twins, and he’ll be in the lineup on Monday against the Detroit Tigers.

Hicks hasn’t played above Double-A ball. He was a first-round draft pick in 2008 after leading Wilson to the Southern Section Division 1 championship in 2007 and a runner-up spot in 2008.

He donated a scoreboard to Wilson’s baseball facility at the end of 2010.

He participated in the Urban Youth Academy development program.
