Who would have predicted that when Jack Hartman and Jack Flaherty were 6 and 7 years old and playing for Sherman Oaks Little League, they would one day be pitching a day apart at Dodger Stadium trying to win championships for their respective high school teams?

That’s going to happen this weekend. On Friday night, Flaherty, a junior who’s 12-0, will start on the mound for Harvard-Westlake in the Southern Section Division 1 final against Marina at 8 p.m.

On Saturday at 1 p.m., Hartman, a senior who’s 12-1, will start on the mound for Cleveland in the City Section Division I final against San Fernando.

They were also club teammates.

‘He was like a brother to me for the longest time,’ said Hartman, who will attend Pennsylvania in the fall. ‘I couldn’t be more proud of him.’

Each will be rooting for the other, and those photos of the two together from years ago will be priceless.
