Game Ends Early on a Touch of Glass
HARRISBURG — A high school basketball game ended prematurely this week after two glass backboards were shattered by one slam-dunking player from each team.
Brian D’Amico of Reading High School sent glass to the floor on a dunk in the first quarter of Reading’s game at Steelton-Highspire High School near here Wednesday night.
The game was delayed for nearly an hour while D’Amico had several pieces of glass removed from his shoulder and arm and custodians replaced the ruined backboard.
With 5:38 remaining in the game, Darryl Evans of Steelton-Highspire shattered a second backboard. With no more replacements on hand, the game was suspended indefinitely with Steelton-Highspire leading 58-48.
