Laguna Beach Man Reported Killed in Mexico
A Laguna Beach man was killed in a Baja California resort during a beach fight, police reported Tuesday.
Lt. Jim White said the Laguna Beach Police Department had received a report that Mitch Kessler was killed Sunday night in a fight in San Jose del Cabo, on the southern tip of the peninsula. White did not know Kessler’s age, but said he was a 1981 graduate of Laguna Beach High School.
“We understand Mr. Kessler was involved in a fight on the beach and he was stabbed four times,” White said.
He also said two unidentified companions of Kessler on a vacation in Mexico were expected to return from Baja California today.
Bob McCormick, director of McCormick Mortuary in Laguna Beach, said Kessler’s body was returned early Tuesday. Rites are pending.
