A suspected burglar was shot to death late Monday by two sheriff’s deputies in East Los Angeles when he allegedly lunged at them with a knife.

A sheriff’s spokesman said Tuesday that the deputies were responding to a silent alarm at the Dan River Inc. linen supply company at 5136 Triggs St.

When the deputies, whose names were not released, arrived, they saw a man inside the building. The officers obtained a key from a security guard, opened the door and ordered the suspect to come out.
