Empire League : El Dorado Wins Again
El Dorado High School, which has developed a reputation of being one of Orange County’s biggest surprises, may have to come up with a new image. The Golden Hawks keep winning, and it’s becoming less and less surprising.
Wednesday night, Bart Hakeman scored a game-high 20 points to lead El Dorado to a 62-55, Empire League win over Pacifica at Placentia. The win keeps El Dorado unbeaten (5-0) in league play. The Golden Hawks are 14-1 overall.
Jim Sammon added 15 points for El Dorado and Jim Mansfield had 14. David Brodt led Pacifica with 13 points. PACIFICA (55)--Brown 9, Tejeda 6, Brodowski 11, Hall 10, Brodt 13, Short 6.

Loara 37 Cypress 32--Forward Damian Porreca scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Saxons (2-3) past the Centurions (1-4). Gary Miller added 10 points and Bobby West had 7 assists. CYPRESS (32)--Civitelli 6, Bausch 4, Krivashei 6, Johnson 8, Vrevgdenhil 4, Hopkins 4.
LOARA (37)--Shinoda 3, Parker 2, Milo 2, Clester 4, Miller 10, Porreca 16.
Katella 84, Los Alamitos 66--Junior center Bob Erbst scored 24 points to lead the Knights to this victory at Los Alamitos. The Knights led by just three at the half but outscored the Griffins 31-14 to secure the game.
Guard J.T. Snow had 14 points and 5 assists for Los Alamitos.

LOS ALAMITOS (66)--Crandall 10, Ervin 8, Woods 6, Snow 14, Goodman 6, Smith 3, Bell 1, Jorgensen 12 Grennon 6. Kennedy 67, Esperanza 50 --Walt Lauderdale and Jeff Green combined to score 34 points as the Irish breezed to their 12th win of the season and improved their league record to 4-0. Kennedy opened a 24-12 lead in the first quarter and Coach John Mayberry substituted freely as 10 of the 12 Irish players scored.
