Interstate Brands filed suit against GSFC.
The manufacturer of Butternut, Mill Brook and Weber’s bread, among other products, said GSFC Inc. of Los Angeles breached an agreement to buy Interstate’s Western operations for $55.1 million. A spokesman for Interstate said GSFC “could not get financing” to complete the deal. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo., seeks a $4-million escrow deposit made by GSFC and $15 million in compensatory damages.
