Search to Begin for Occupants of Boat Found Adrift
An extensive air and sea search operation is scheduled to start at dawn today in the ocean off Dana Point for occupants of a small boat found adrift Friday, the Coast Guard said.
The 14-foot outboard skiff, with its motor running, was found about 4 p.m. 10 miles west-southwest of Dana Point by the pleasure boat Class Toy, according to Chief Petty Officer Patty Milton. No one was aboard the skiff.
A Coast Guard helicopter from San Diego and the cutter Point Evans from Long Beach searched the area for three hours before giving up for the night, said Milton, who declined to identify the registered owner of the drifting boat.
