Bomb Destroys Auto at Home of Tustin Resident
Authorities Friday were studying scraps of metal--all that was left of an 18-year-old Tustin resident’s car after it was destroyed by a bomb outside his family’s condominium.
The sheriff’s explosive devices squad was investigating the incident and authorities had not established any motive, said Tustin Police Lt. Houston) Williams.
No one was injured in the explosion about 9 p.m. Thursday, police said, but the 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit registered to David Thomas was blown apart when the bomb went off.
Police said Thomas arrived home from work about 6 p.m. and parked his car in a common driveway of the condominium complex at 1395 Bryan Ave. Three hours later, Thomas “heard a big boom,” Williams said.
