SCC Hits From Line to Beat UCSD, 78-69
Southern California College easily defeated UC San Diego, 78-69, Friday night in nonconference action at SCC.
The Vanguards led by four to six points throughout the game. SCC won the game at the free throw line, making 20 of 29 shots compared to 5 of 7 for UCSD. The Tritons committed 27 fouls and were called for two technicals. SCC also outrebounded the Tritons, 37-24.
SCC was paced by senior guard Sherwin Durham with 19 points and junior guard Randy McAllister with 18 points. Senior center Mike Bruce led all rebounders with 10. Senior forwards Greg Ward and Neil Anderson had nine rebounds each.
Triton senior guard Brandon Nixon led all scorers with 25 points.
The victory improves SCC’s overall record to 18-4.
