CSUN Men Win CCAA Swim Title
The Cal State Northridge men’s swim team clinched the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. championship Friday, defeating Cal State Bakersfield, 69-44, at Northridge.
Senior Bruce Parker, an All-American in six events last season, led the Matadors by winning the 50 and 100-meter freestyles in times of 21.16 and 47.49, respectively.
Roland King won the one-meter diving event with 307.40 points, a mark good enough to qualify him for the NCAA Division I championships next month. King had already qualified for the Division II championships.
Northridge has won national Division II titles in each of the last four years, but this was the first conference title the Matadors have won since 1979.
Northridge had no conference affiliation from 1980 to 1984.
