Letters : Support for Medical School Dean

Regarding the Jan. 19 article “Embattled Dean Loses Post at UCI Medical School”:

It is truly unfortunate and even tragic for many that Dr. Stanley van den Noort, dean of the College of Medicine at UC Irvine, will not be reappointed.

He has always been an advocate of the poor and those less fortunate. It is easy to see that the “system” would not tolerate such a compassionate and courageous individual. He has molded a first-rate medical school and stood up to any challenge that he encountered.

As an alum, I support the dean 100%, and feel that the university should reconsider such a poor decision. Certainly there is still time to rescind such an action.
