Girls Roundup : El Toro Defeats Dana Hills, 72-31
Junior point guard Bridgid Moynihan had a game-high 20 points and Vicki Mallett added 17 points, 10 steals and 6 assists to lead El Toro High School to a 72-31 win over Dana Hills in a South Coast League basketball game Saturday night at El Toro.
Jennifer Uecke contributed 17 points, and Kathy Nickel had a team-high 10 rebounds for El Toro (8-1, 14-5), which remained one game off the pace of league-leading Mission Viejo.
Laura Dowdy led Dana Hills with 11 points.
In other South Coast League action:
Irvine 38, Capistrano Valley 27--Shelly Moceri scored 11 points to lead the Vaqueros (5-4, 7-10) past the Cougars at Irvine.
In Century League action:
Tustin 52, Canyon 41--The Tillers made 24 of 35 free throws en route to the win at Canyon, in a game originally scheduled for next Tuesday. Senior center Courtney Hamberg and junior guard Joy Fuller had 12 points each for Tustin (7-4 in league), and Ann Jeffries added 11.
The teams entered the game tied for third place in the league, but Canyon struggled at the foul line in falling to fourth.
