Dog to Learn Sniffing:Connie, a German shepherd with the Police Department, will leave soon for Riverside County for a two-week narcotics-detection course. After she completes the course, Connie will be the first of the department’s canine squad, whose animals will be capable of sniffing out all kinds of narcotics, officials said. Manny LaTorre, representing the Community Oriented Policing Block Captains Assn., will present a $1,000 check to Mayor Daniel E. Griset at tonight’s City Council meeting to pay for Connie’s tuition.
