Thousand Oaks Woman Dies in Crash
A 46-year-old Thousand Oaks woman was killed Saturday when a car driven by a 76-year-old Agoura man missed a turn onto a transition road from the Long Beach Freeway to the Santa Ana Freeway and slammed into a guardrail, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said Sunday.
The woman, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at Santa Marta Hospital in Los Angeles, CHP Officer Michael Morrissey said. Her name was withheld until her family was notified.
The driver, Thomas Loe, was in serious condition Sunday at County-USC Medical Center, Morrissey said.
Morrissey said witnesses told CHP officers that Loe was driving north on the Long Beach Freeway “at a high rate of speed” shortly before 7 p.m. when he cut across several lanes and attempted to turn onto the Santa Ana Freeway.
Loe missed the turn and his 1973 Toyota struck a guardrail just south of the freeway interchange, officers said.
