Additional boat launching facilities and placement of some 1,600 tons of sand on existing beaches are a part of the $1.5-million improvement at Pyramid Lake in the Gorman area, which is under jurisdiction of the California State Water Project.

The project was carried out by the firm of Moulder Brothers, Glendale, and included development of four boat-access picnic sites at remote parts of the lake.

Another part of the major improvement was the installation of a 40,000-gallon fresh water tank and extension of an existing chlorination plant and system. The 1,300 surface-acre lake is near Interstate 5 within the Los Padres National Forest.
