Placentia : Man Killed When Car Plunges Down Slope
A resident of Orange died when his car rolled down an embankment off the Orange Freeway.
Armando R. Ortega, 26, was thrown from the car and suffered fatal head injuries in the accident at 11:30 p.m. Monday, California Highway Patrol dispatcher Marcella Ozenne said.
Ortega was traveling south in the No. 3 lane at about 70 m.p.h. when his 1977 Buick drifted onto the shoulder, she said. The car crashed through the guardrail just south of Placentia Avenue and rolled down the embankment, coming to rest next to the Santa Fe Railroad tracks. Paramedics found Ortega’s body next to the car.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
