Trailer Park Owners Seek Assessment Exemption
Owners of the Riviera Mobile Home Park won a hearing, set for next Tuesday, after they told the City Council that they do not want to be taxed along with other property owners for improvements planned near Anaheim Stadium.
Attorney Floyd Farano said his clients object to the proposed tax because they do not believe they will benefit from the improvements.
The tax, in the form of an assessment district called Anaheim Stadium Associates, would be levied on property between the stadium and the congested area around Disneyland, the convention center and hotels on Harbor Boulevard.
Farano also argued that owners Alexandra Ltd. and Becker Ltd. already are proposing to make public improvements worth more than $2 million if they build a high-rise condominium and hotel on their Katella Avenue property. That project also is scheduled for consideration at the Tuesday council meeting.
Councilwoman Miriam Kaywood told Farano that his clients “have the largest project, and are the only ones protesting (the tax). I have a problem with that.”
