Desert recreation enthusiasts, mineral hunters and energy explorers have been guaranteed continued access to most of the Imperial County land that forms buffer zones around Navy target sites, officials say. Meetings between representatives of the Navy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management apparently resolved most of the issues in the Navy’s effort to win control of 315,000 acres in Imperial County managed as multiple-use land by the bureau.
