A fire in a Whittier elementary school caused $600,000 damage, but no injuries were reported, county fire officials said. The blaze at West Whittier Elementary School was extinguished in about 20 minutes by about 30 firefighters from Los Angeles County. The cause of the fire at the school, 6411 S. Norwalk Blvd., was under investigation.
