Costa Mesa
Child Care Panel Formed: A committee to study the city’s child care needs and possibly recommend some solutions has been formed by the City Council. A previous study found that all but three of the city’s 26 day care providers had waiting lists, Councilman Dave Wheeler said. “There is definitely a need for day care and the next question becomes whether it is a proper function of the city,” he said. The nine-member committee will include Wheeler and Vice Mayor Mary Hornbuckle. There also are openings for two Costa Mesa employers, one private and one public day care operator, two parents and a representative from the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
