A man trapped in a burning car was saved by four Culver City policemen who grabbed fire extinguishers from their patrol cars and controlled the flames until firefighters arrived. The officers were in pursuit of a suspected drunk driver who was driving at about 80 m.p.h. on Jefferson Boulevard. Police said the driver ran through a red light at Raintree Circle and slammed into a Corvette driven by Arnold Taylor. After the car fire was put out, firefighters used the “jaws of life” to free Taylor from the wreckage. Lawrence Goudeau of Culver City, driver of the speeding car, was booked at Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of drunk driving.
