Donald L. Baeder, former president and chief operating officer of Occidental Petroleum Corp.’s Hooker Chemical Corp. subsidiary and more recently executive vice president of special projects at the parent firm, has resigned, the company said, to pursue unspecified “other business interests.” Baeder could not be reached for comment.

Baeder was named executive vice president of research and development at Occidental in 1975. He later became president of the Hooker subsidiary. In 1980, he was named executive vice president for science and technology for Occidental. He will remain as a special consultant temporarily, an Occidental spokesman said.

In recent years, Baeder was active in a number of special project areas, including oil shale, chemicals, environmental affairs and the production of energy from waste, the company said.
