William Fleury, who once hosted weekly “pillow talk” sex parties at his large rented home on Mount Helix, was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges of engaging in illegal sexual activity with his 14-year-old daughter, court officials said.

In a closed preliminary hearing, Fleury, 43, was ordered to stand trial on multiple felony counts of oral copulation with a minor under 16, unlawful intercourse with a minor and incest. He was arrested March 1.

Fleury was held in lieu of $15,000 bail and will be arraigned April 2 in Superior Court. He was ordered to have no contact with his daughter if he is able to post bail.

Municipal Court Judge Robert J. Cooney decided to close the hearing to the public after the girl’s foster mother testified that the girl would suffer psychological damage if she were forced to discuss the ordeal in front of strangers.

Public defender Allan Williams had also asked for a closed hearing on behalf of his client, arguing that Fleury would be unable to get a fair trial if the press were allowed to publicize the case.

“There will be preconceived notions of guilt because of the ‘Pillow Talk’ (sex parties) business,” Williams told the judge.

Cooney refused to close the hearing on those grounds because, he said, it would not be difficult to find 12 people in San Diego who had not heard of the parties.

Fleury’s wife, Mary Jane, 49, who also participated in the sex parties, was charged earlier with several misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child molestation. Her trial date was set for April 3.

The alleged victim, taken into protective custody in late February, is William Fleury’s daughter by an earlier marriage, Williams said.

The Fleurys were forced out of their home in December after angry neighbors objected to the sex parties that frequently attracted as many as 25 couples.
