The U.S. Department of Energy postponed a major underground nuclear weapon test Saturday because of continued high wind at the Nevada Test Site.

The test, the third in two weeks, had been scheduled for Friday morning, then was postponed until Saturday because of the wind.

A department spokesman said Saturday that the test would not be conducted until Monday morning at the earliest because of the wind at the site 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

The test is scheduled to have an explosive yield equivalent to 20,000 to 150,000 tons of TNT, which would make it a comparatively large test.
