Arson Blaze Destroys Roadside Produce Stand
An arson fire destroyed a roadside produce stand early Tuesday, causing an estimated $75,000 damage, authorities said.
Anaheim Fire Department inspector Mike Doty said the 1:36 a.m. fire at Fujishige’s Fruit and Vegetable Stand on Harbor Boulevard was set with a flammable liquid. The fire gutted the little market, which contained extensive refrigeration equipment, Doty said. There were no injuries.
The blaze may be linked to an arson fire about five blocks away two hours earlier, authorities said. Doty said five garages were burned with flammable liquid in that fire, in which damage was estimated to be about $25,000.
However, Doty said the produce fire did not appear to be connected to arson fires Monday morning at the Emerald Hotel and in two trash cans. A fire that was started in the hotel’s laundry room was extinguished by an automatic sprinkler system, Doty said, causing minor damage estimated at $2,000.
