Turkish Prime Minister Turgut Ozal said he would meet Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou “anytime, anyplace,” including Athens, to try to settle the two countries’ differences. Ozal, speaking to a National Press Club audience in Washington, elaborated on his earlier offer to negotiate a treaty of friendship and reconciliation between the two countries. The Greek government has not responded directly to Ozal.
