Service Merchandise acquired two retail chains.
The Nashville, Tenn.-based operator of catalogue showrooms said it acquired H. J. Wilson Co. of Baton Rouge, La., for $154 million and Ellmans Inc. of Smyrna, Ga., for $33.6 million. The acquisitions will add 88 stores to Service Merchandise’s current 185 showrooms and will increase sales an estimated $660 million.
