Brea : Plan Unit Holds Off on Carbon Canyon Proposal
The Planning Commission has decided to hold off on recommendations regarding proposed development of the Carbon Canyon area until later this month.
The decision came Tuesday, when the city’s staff and consultants fielded questions on the proposals during a public hearing. Most of the questions came from the commission members, who are expected to make a recommendation after the next hearing on April 23.
Plans for the area, which now has fewer than 300 homes, include increasing the number of homes to as many as 5,356. The canyon lies along the junction of Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
The April 23 hearing will be held at Brea-Olinda High School instead of the regular council chamber.
City officials are expecting a heavy turnout by residents concerned with a second issue that Planning Commission members will also review, a proposed helicopter pad.
