Reagan and Social Security
Social Security is self-supporting and is not responsible for one cent of the federal deficit. The major culprit is the $300 billion military budget, much of which goes to greedy defense contractors, who routinely overcharge the government by millions.
So what do President Reagan and the Senate Republican leaders do about it? They give the budget-busters a 3% raise above the inflation rate and make it up by cutting the elderly to 2% below the inflation rate!
Talk about giving the criminal more consideration than the victim! Let’s be fair and just, Mr. President.
